These songs will not be included on the new album due out in 2011. As soon as they are available, we will let you know. Check back for more updates.

| sooooo here’s the story… the last time the waiting played until recently was in 2003 here in ATL. after that we officially quit touring full time but we didnt officially break up- we just kinda got going with the rest of our lives- which had been pretty well neglected from touring for over a decade. each band member got on with his own thing- brandon (who had come off the road a couple yrs earlier) was and is working as technical director for a large church here in ga. clark went back to school and finally got ordained. brad went to serve as arts director for a church in utah. and i stayed here in atl and began freelance producing other artists for a living under my nickname oats. now i have 70 or so active clients that come to my small studio- many of them come in to record just a couple times a year. i produced a solo record for my brother, brad entitled ‘the more i think i understand the less i can explain’ – a very well written record that few have heard. presently i am working on records for dede swint (kinda taylor swiftish), joy parkman (unique praise and worship), and benjamin cole (new grass/folk & roll). also i have a solo effort due out on oct 15 (at least a single by then!). the record is under my nickname oats and is entitled [a tear and a sneer]. its in a style i loved when i was coming up- old school punk-so im looking forward to that! i hope this note dispels the myth that the waiting was stranded on an island or that i was killed in a freak bobsled accident! we are all fine and working on a new waiting record for 2011 (untitled as of yet). there are samples of a couple of the new songs (rough mixes) on the waiting’s fb page- one written by brad and one by yours truly. since 2011 is the 20th anniversary of the band (tilburry town came out in ’91) we felt like we wanted to record- and we have even done some spot dates here and there. check back here and ill keep ya updated on the progress of the record- and the rumour that the waiting is being considered to play next summer where we were discovered- cornerstone festival! thanks for reading my boring blog! |
todd ‘oats’ olsen
it has been interesting recording with the waiting these days bc we all live in different places now- brad has lived in utah the last several years (although he is moving back to ga soon), clark lives in kentucky, and brandon and i live on opposite sides of ATL. so what we have done- and we are not the first to do it- has been to essentially record over the internet. brad wrote a song called ‘name’ and sent it to me. i recorded guitars and sent it to brandon to record drums and mix it etc. i also wrote a tune for the record called ‘all love’ and sent it to brad to do the vocals who sent it etc etc. you can hear samples of these new songs on the waitings facebook page. it’s fun doing a record this way bc 1 )its different from the daily grind of being in the studio every day and 2) everyone gets to have their input on their respective parts. ive been doing the overall arrangements, but giving players of this calibre full creative input i feel really makes these true waiting songs. it’s actually not dissimilar to how we all had input on the song ‘hands in the air’ except that for that one we were all in the same room lookin at each other instead of sending the songs around the country. im liking this new way of recording and im seeing alot of possibilities to keep in touch with friends and fans of the band to let everyone know what we are up to. yeah i think this internet thing might really take off one of these days!

Can you believe that it has been 20 years since we were discovered at Cornerstone? 2011 is The Waiting’s 20th anniversary and we hope to celebrate it with the release of our next cd. So far, we have two songs done for it. ‘Name’ is the first single off of the album. Brad wrote it and we have played it in concert in Pennsylvania last December and again in May when we played in Georgia.
The second song is called ‘All Love’. Todd wrote the song and even was able to work Archimedes into the lyrics. Check out excerpts from the song on our facebook page www.facebook.com/thewaitingofficialpage.
